Acclaimed Horror Writer James Tynion IV Returns to Superheroes for The DC/Marvel Crossover Event: “Batman/Deadpool”
James joins the comic event of the century for a John Constantine/ Doctor Strange crossover story!
The first major collaboration between DC and Marvel in years hits shelves next month with Deadpool/ Batman #1, followed by Batman/ Deadpool #1 dropping this November. The crossover is decades in the making and the comic-gods have blessed us by bringing together some of the most talented creators in the industry for the momentous occasion.
Marvel’s Deadpool/Batman #1 will have the main story written by Zeb Wells with art by Greg Capullo, with additional backup stories including a Daredevil and Green Arrow crossover by Kevin Smith and Adam Kubert, Captain America and Wonder Woman by Chip Zdarsky and Terry Dodson, and Jeff the Land Shark and Krypto by Kelly Thompson and Gurihiru.
Wade Wilson has been hired for a job in Gotham City, but will the World’s Greatest Detective help him or destroy him?
DC’s Batman/Deadpool #1 will feature a main story by Grant Morrison and Dan Mora, with four bonus crossover stories including John Constantine and Doctor Stranger by Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV, Joshua Williamson, and Hayden Sherman, Nightwing and Wolverine by Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo, Harley Quinn and Hulk by Mariko Tamaki and Amanda Conner, and Static and Ms. Marvel by G. Willow Wilson and Denys Cowan.
What happens when the World’s Greatest Detective meets the Merc with a Mouth? Reality folds in on itself. Archetypes collide. Darkseid is. And, somewhere between Apokolips and Earth-TRN666, a sentient street named Danny hums show tunes about a crusading cape!
Eisner Award-winning writer and Batman alumnus James Tynion IV is one of the most influential voices in horror comics today, known for Something is Killing the Children, W0rldtr33, Exquisite Corpses, Nice House on the Lake, The Department of Truth, The Deviant, and countless other titles that have helped shape the creator-owned comic industry. After having done multiple acclaimed Batman runs and co-creating DC characters like Punchline and Ghost-Maker, Tynion has taken a step back from superheroes to craft outstanding creator-owned stories and build his independent production house, Tiny Onion.
Tiny Onion is revolutionizing creator owned comics; partnering with several major publishers to bring to life some of the boldest stories in comics, “staffing up an autonomous full-service editorial and design team” with “aggressive plans across all media, developing a slate of new projects in the film, television, and animation industries.”
Fans have been overjoyed to hear that Tynion is returning to superheroes for the crossover-event of the century! Tynion shared the news on his Instagram with a cover of Batman/ Deadpool #1 featuring John Constantine and Dr. Strange and a screenshot of the AIPT article by David Brooke, followed by the caption:
I couldn't help it! I absolutely had to come out of my retirement from Superheroes for this one!
