[Exclusive] From the Pages of ‘Hello Darkness’: BOOM! Studios Announces ‘Hello Body Horror’ One-Shot
A new stomach-churning one-shot hits shelves April 2026!
I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again: BOOM! Studios’s ongoing horror anthology Hello Darkness is a celebration of the horror genre. So many grotesque and disturbing themes and sub-genres have been explored throughout the pages of this acclaimed horror series—with creatives like Luana Vecchio, Garth Ennis, Becky Cloonan, R.L. Stine, and many more having told their tales of terror.
The DeMonster is honored to exclusively break the news that a new Hello Darkness one-shot is coming to comic shops this April! *My birthday month—thank you, BOOM!* Hello Body Horror #1 will have a stacked team of creatives bringing these stomach-churning stories to life (see below) and feast your eyes on this stunning (and gory!) cover by Rebeca Puebla!
In “Body Positivity” by Mark Bouchard and Rye Hickman, a fitness influencer striving for greatness has her mind go where her body cannot follow…yet.
In “Minimal Scarring” by indie sensation Derick Jones, a plastic surgeon who caters to the ultra-rich uses what pieces they leave behind to transform himself.
Also featuring stories by Michael W. Conrad, Martín Marazzo, Jeremy Bastian, Ziyan Qiu, Jenna Cha, and Rober Hack for a veritable “Who’s Who” in “Kill U Comics!”
Personally? I’m a sucker for body horror! I think of movies such as The Thing or The Substance and am filled with excitement for the incredible stories BOOM! has lined up for us in Hello Body Horror #1.
And for you variant collectors, which includes myself, Hello Body Horror #1 will feature covers by Rebeca Puebla, Jenny Frison, Johnathan Wayshak, and Yanick Paquette. Check out this killer cover by Yanick Paquette!
Hello Body Horror #1 will be available in comic shops on April 29, 2026. Digital copies will be available from providers including iBooks, Google Play, and Kindle. Hello Body Horror #1 is available for pre-order now.
Hello Darkness #18 hits shelves next week on January 28, 2026.

Love the focus on body horror as a subgenre, it's such fertile ground for comics. The fitness influencer premise in "Body Positivity" sounds like a sharp commentary on modern self-optimization culture gone wrong. I remember reading a short story with a similar concept years ago and it still sticks with me because the disconnect between mind and body felt so visceraly real.
