“Something is Killing the Children” Green-Lit For At Least 100 Issues
This Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con, the annual Slaughterverse panel The Slaughterverse: Expanding the World of Something is Killing the Children revealed some exciting news about the future of the beloved horror series that celebrated its 5th anniversary last year.
The Slaughterverse is the ever-expanding comic universe published by BOOM! Studios that all started with the series Something is Killing the Children, co-created by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera. It has grown to include the spin-off series House of Slaughter, the Book of Slaughter oversized one-shots, and has recently joined the serialized horror anthology series Hello Darkness.
When the children of Archer's Peak begin to go missing, everything seems hopeless. The few children that return alive have terrible stories - - impossible details of terrifying creatures that live in the shadows. Their only hope is the arrival of a mysterious stranger, one who believes the children and claims to be the only adult who sees what they can see. Her name is Erica Slaughter. She kills monsters. That is all she does, and she bears the cost because it must be done.
The Slaughterverse: Expanding the World of Something is Killing the Children panel consisted of James Tynion IV (co-creator and writer of Something is Killing the Children), Eric Harburn (Editor of Something is Killing the Children and Director of Editorial at Tiny Onion), Ramiro Portnoy (Editor of Something is Killing the Children), and was moderated by long-time Slaughterverse fan and content creator Sami DeMonster.
During the panel while exploring the creative process of the Slaughterverse, discussing what it has been like diving into Erica’s Slaughter’s history in the current arc, analyzing characters such as Cecilia, breaking down the rich lore behind the series which includes its alluring monster hunter sorting system, and answering fan questions like what kind of pants Erica Slaughter wears (if you know, you know), James Tynion IV announced that Something is Killing the Children has been officially contracted to do at least 100 issues of the series.
Tynion has always teased that he wants to do at least 100 issues of the Something is Killing the Children, now the Tiny Onion team (Tynion’s production house) and fans alike are celebrating that BOOM! Studios has officially green-lit the 100 issue run. We are getting so much more Erica Slaughter, with more spin-offs hinted at. With the series in development with Netflix, the Slaughterverse continues to rapidly grow!
