9 Reasons To Watch SHE-HULK

Marvel’s newest show, She-Hulk, dropped August 18, 2022 on Disney+. Jennifer Walters: accomplished lawyer, cousin of Bruce Banner, and a new Hulk, is brought to life in this fun, fourth-wall-breaking show.

Marvel

1. She-Hulk is Bad-ass And Powerful

From the Fantastic Four to The Avengers, Jennifer Walters has been a powerful member of multiple highly coveted superhero teams. The 6-foot-7 ripped green goddess shows mastery over her hulk abilities in ways that her cousin Bruce struggled with. Walters kicks ass in the courtroom and while fighting supervillains. It also doesn't hurt that she rocks a pant suit.

2. She-Hulk, Like Deadpool, is Worthy of a Crown When it Comes to Breaking the Fourth Wall

Jennifer Walters is a self-aware comedic genius. When it comes to breaking the fourth wall, Walters does it with style and grace. It is truly a fun ride when reading She-Hulk, and the show is no different.

3. This is a Fun Show, Bringing a Slightly Different Vibe to the MCU

The MCU has been bringing us spectacular superhero films for over a decade, and phase 4 looks to bring some new content to the table. We have seen more comedic elements in the MCU since Taika Waititi brought us his fresh take on Thor, but why stop there? She-Hulk is fun, relatable, witty, light, and self-aware. We don't see a lot of fourth wall breaking in the MCU, especially with Deadpool existing in a different cinematic universe. This fun style of superhero content is worth embracing, highly enjoyable, and very true to the comics.

4. Tatiana Maslany, She-Hulk, Is an Incredible Actress

With over 70 acting credits on IMDb, Tatiana Maslany has a lot of experience under her belt. One of her more notable projects is Orphan Black, where she played multiple clones. The way in which Maslany portrayed multiple characters was so impressive. While watching the show, it was easy to forget all these characters were played by one person. Maslany showed mastery of acting with her distinct mannerisms, dialects, and accents. She brought each of these drastically different characters to life in an outstanding way.

5. Let's Embrace More Female Lead projects in the MCU

The first female lead movie in the MCU was Captain Marvel, and she paved the way for far more projects. From WandaVision to Ms. Marvel, we have some incredible female lead Disney+ original shows. One reason why it is important to have female characters on screen is to show what it is like living in the world as a woman. From societal standards to sexism, Jennifer Walters’s story is not a unique one, but it is a relatable one. Walters’s voice and experiences should be represented in the media, to relate to and show her perspective to those who can't relate.

6. Jameela Jamil Plays Titania

Best known for her role in The Good Place as Tahani Al-Jamil, the talented Jameela Jamil comes to the MCU for the first time. Jamil is a superstar on and off the screen. She is an established comedic writer, actress, and activist: a multi-faceted and multi-talented individual that the MCU is lucky to have.

7. Mark Ruffalo is Back as the Hulk

Mark Ruffalo, AKA the Strongest Avenger, is another star in this cast. Both Mark Ruffalo and Bruce Banner have had the role of Hulk for a decade, and Mark brings those nuances to the screen. Bruce’s experience as the hulk contrasts with Tatiana Maslany’s She-Hulk, whom he helps guide in the ways of being a Hulk.

8. Bruce and Jennifer Bring a Great Familial Dynamic to the Screen

Maslany and Ruffalo bring a heartwarming cousin dynamic to the screen and have some great sibling-esqe chemistry. From casual teasing to some great heartwarming moments, these actors bring great chemistry to these characters. Bruce has had the mantle of Hulk for over a decade and now it's time to guide his cousin, and be the support for her that he never had. Their relationship will be fun to explore in the show.

9. Jennifer Walters is a relatable character.

In the comics, She-hulk is a relatable character with many slice-of-life comic issues. Jennifer Walters is a normal woman; she works as a lawyer, appreciates cute outfits, and likes drinking with her friends after work… But she also happens to be a 6-foot-7 super strong green woman. We see her explore romantic relationships, have friendships, and deal with misogyny. As she breaks the fourth wall we see her express relatable anxieties and perspectives, in a way she represents the audience. Jennifer Walters has been a relatable character in the comics and it will be great to see the show explore that side of her.
